Stanford Rugby impacts countless young men and women and provides the opportunity for them to develop leadership and character, build life long friend ships, enjoy rewarding and challenging experiences, travel the world, and compete at their highest level representing Stanford University. As a non-varsity sport, we are very dependent on the continued generosity of our alumni and supporters, and in our pursuit to become the best rugby program in the country, on and off the field, it is critical that we continue our efforts to fundraise in support of the team. For alumni making a donation as part of their five year reunion, we would kindly ask that you consider specifying that part or all of your donation go toward the Stanford Rugby Program and one of our various funds. Here are the three funds you can donate specifically toward:

Giving to Stanford Rugby

The Stanford Rugby Endowment Fund (NAANP). This is the primary and preferred source of operating funds for the Stanford Men's and Women's rugby programs. The Stanford Rugby Endowment Fund was established in 1993 and is a part of the overall Stanford Endowment. Each year, Stanford Rugby receives a payout from the University Endowment based the Fund's relative balance in the Endowment. The payout funds are used to reimburse coaching salaries, transportation costs, and trainer costs, in that order of priority. Thus, gifts to the Stanford Rugby Endowment are essentially gifts in perpetuity, and help to ensure there will be the necessary financial support for the essential expenses of the Stanford Rugby Men's and Women's Rugby clubs into the foreseeable future.

The Stanford Rugby Improvement Fund (HAIDO). This fund is used for special projects and to cover any unanticipated annual operating budget shortfalls. Examples of special projects recently funded through gifts to the Improvement Fund include the lights at Steuber Field, tour expenses to South Africa and New Zealand, and improvements to the John Doyle Rugby Clubhouse. Gifts to the Rugby Improvement Fund are generally used for specific purposes during the gift year and can be specifically directed by donors for specific approved purposes related to the rugby program.

The Don Bunce Rugby Endowment (KAARZ). This fund was established in loving memory of Don Bunce, winning Quarterback of the 1972 Stanford Rose Bowl football team, and four-year Stanford rugby star. After graduation from medical school, Don remained close to Stanford Rugby, acting as team doctor for many years, and accompanying the teams on tours to Fiji and Australia. To honor Don's memory as a dynamic player, the annual income distributed from the Don Bunce Rugby Endowment Fund is used to pay for travel and other expenses incurred by Stanford men's and women's rugby players as they seek selection on regional and national all-star teams, and in traveling to participate in those teams upon selection. Examples of such expenses include travel for All-American team events and national team trials. Gifts to the Don Bunce Rugby Endowment ensure that Stanford rugby players will have the opportunity to realize their dream of playing for the national and other representative teams.

Step 2: Direct your Gift. Please select the school or group to which you wish to make a gift ) Choose "Other" Select the Type of Gift (One Time Gift, Pledge Payment, or Recurring Gift) Select your Payment Type (Credit Card, Wire Transfer, or Security Transfer) Click on Continue button
Step 3: Gift Designation. Scroll down to the bottom of the Further Designation drop-down selection and choose "Other Designation (specify below)" In the Special Instructions/Other Designation Text box write: "The Stanford Rugby Endowment Fund (NAANP)"
Step 4: Enter/verify contact information and payment details and you're done.
